Our Health Care Team
Our health care professionals, consisting of physicians, physician assistants,
and nurse practitioners, are certified and licensed, and have specialty certifications.
The remainder of our medical staff consists of medical assistants,
x-ray technicians, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics.
Our entire health care team attends continuing education on a
regular basis, and work to provide the best possible care for our patients.
Craig M. Jorgenson, MD
Dr. Craig Jorgenson is an internal medicine physician who, along with Dr. Govind Koka, serves as co-owner and co-medical director to Advanced Urgent Care.Dr. Jorgenson received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California in Irvine, and later received his M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. Dr. Jorgenson is extremely active in our local health care network and serves multiple roles in the Henderson community. Dr. Jorgenson currently serves as Chief of Staff for Boulder City Hospital, as well as Medical Director for Odyssey Hospice, Mountain View Care Center at Boulder City, and the Nevada State Veterans Home at Boulder City. Dr. Jorgenson also serves as co-medical director for TLC Care Center in Henderson, and is a staff physician at Healthsouth of Henderson, Life Care Center of Paradise Valley, Delmar Gardens of Green Valley, and St. Rose Dominican Hospital’s Siena & De Lima campuses. |

Govind V. Koka, DO
Dr. Govind Koka is a family medicine physician who, along with Dr. Craig Jorgenson, serves as co-owner and co-medical director to Advanced Urgent Care. Dr. Koka received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and later received his D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kansas City, Missouri. Since completing medical school in 1997, Dr. Koka has worked extensively in the medical field and has even volunteered to provide medical support to an orphanage in Quito, Ecuador, as well as the dengue outbreak in Limon, Costa Rica. Dr. Koka is a member of the Nevada Osteopathic Medical Association as well as the American Osteopathic Association. Additionally, Dr. Koka is also a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. |

Lauren V. Abela, PA-C
Lauren Abela is a physician assistant who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since opening in November, 2004. Lauren graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology with a concentration in chemistry in 1997. She then moved to California where she graduated from Western University of Health Sciences in 2002 with a Physician Assistant Masters of Science. Lauren provides primary, internal medicine, care and is affiliated with several hospitals and centers including Boulder City Hospital, HealthSouth, Kindred, St. Rose Dominican Hospital’s De Lima campus, and St. Rose Dominican’s Siena campus.

Alona Angosta, RN, APN-C
Alona Angosta is a family nurse practitioner who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since 2004. Alona graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2000, and now continues there as a nursing lecturer and member of their clinical faculty, teaching Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Primary Care of the Families courses. Alona’s clinical expertise includes emergency care, trauma and critical care nursing, cardiac care, military nursing, internal medicine, and family practice. Alona is working toward her PhD at the University of Hawaii, where her areas of interest include cardiovascular disease in women, physical activity, and diabetes research. In addition to her teaching role, Alona serves as the co-chairman of UNLV’s School of Nursing Faculty Search Committee. She is also a member of Zeta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Nevada Nurses Association, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Rebecca Runge Cailor, RN, FNP-C
Rebecca Cailor is a family nurse practitioner who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since October, 2008. Rebecca graduated from the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine on the Brooks Air Force Base in Texas with training as an environmental health technician as well as a radiation physicist. She later moved to Missouri where she graduated from the St. Johns School of Nursing in Springfield with her Registered Nurse diploma. Continuing with her nursing education, Rebecca graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1987 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Rebecca later moved to California where she received her certification as a clinical hypnotherapist from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy in Irvine. In 2000, Rebecca received her Master of Science in Nursing, and Family Nurse Practitioner status, from California State University in Long Beach. Rebecca currently provides urgent care support on weekends, and provides weekend appointments for female patients seeking women’s health issues. In addition, Rebecca assumes the role of assistant professor for the University of Southern Nevada’s College of Nursing. She is active in developing new program curriculum, syllabi, and student handbooks in their Bachelor of Nursing program.

James L. Flowers, MD, MPH
Dr. James Flowers is an internal medicine physician who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since 2009. Dr. Flowers is board certified in both internal and addiction medicine, and is one of only a few students to earn two degrees within the four-year medical school timeframe: a Masters in Public Health, and an MD degree. Dr. Flowers is a graduate of Harvard Medical School in Boston, and was a participant in the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences & Technology. Dr. Flowers’ experience extends across the fields of internal medicine, emergency medicine, behavioral medicine, and addiction (drug & alcohol) medicine. In addition to his vital role as a physician, Dr. Flowers, nicknamed the “Godfather of MCAT Prep,” has been teaching medical students how to prepare for the MCAT since 1971, and has personally taught MCAT presentations to thousands of students all across the country. Dr. Flowers has made numerous MCAT Intensive Review presentations throughout the country at medical schools and undergraduate institutions including Tulane Medical School, Xavier University, Morehouse College, Alabama State University, University of South Alabama School of Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina, and University of Mississippi Medical School, just to name a few. Dr. Flowers currently provides primary care and urgent care services, and serves as a back-up to our personal injury division. |

Gregory G. Dyer, PA-C
Gregory “Greg” Dyer is a physician assistant who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since February, 2007. Greg first entered the health care field while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard in the early 1990s. Greg then graduated from Excelsior College in Albany, New York in 1994 with his Associate in Science degree. Greg then moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where he received his Bachelor of Science in the Physician Assistant program from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Science. Greg currently provides urgent care support on weekends, and works full-time for Osteopathic Medical Associates of Nevada.

Don E. Gregory, MD
Dr. Don Gregory is a family medicine physician who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since 2007. Dr. Gregory received his Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in 1970. He then received his MD from the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City in 1974. Dr. Gregory completed his residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, where he later served as Assistant Director to the Family Practice Residency Program. Dr. Gregory also served as Assistant Clinical Professor to the Department of Family Practice at Wright State University’s School of Medicine in Dayton. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, Dr. Gregory had his own family practice in Vandalia, Ohio, for 27 years. Dr. Gregory now provides care to our personal injury clinics on a regular basis, and serves as back-up to our urgent care setting.

Charles E. Johnson, PA-C
Charles “Chuck” Johnson is a physician assistant who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since February, 2007. Chuck began his health care education in the late 1970s when he worked as an emergency medical technician for the Travis County Emergency Medical Services in Texas. During this time, Chuck completed an intensive Spanish program, and continues to speak fluently today. Prior to that, Chuck completed a Russian language program which he used for his role in U.S. Army Intelligence. Chuck entered the pre-med program at the University of Texas at Austin in 1977, and then graduated from the Physician Assistant Bachelor of Science Program in Galveston in 1981. Chuck has worked as a Physician Assistant for the U.S. Air Force while stationed in Japan, Guam, the Netherlands, and locally at Nellis Air Force Base. Chuck currently provides urgent care support and primary and family medicine care.

Timothy R. Knauff, PA-C
Timothy Knauff is a physician assistant who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since November, 2004. Tim graduated Magna cum Laude from Kettering College of Medical Arts in 1998 after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and Bachelor of Science in Biology. Upon graduating, Tim worked for a gastroenterology practice in Fort Myers, Florida. He later moved to Las Vegas where he has since worked extensively in the urgent care environment. Tim now plays an important role as part of our healthcare team, providing regular coverage to our urgent care and personal injury divisions. |

Matthew D. McGauran, PA-C
Matthew “Matt” McGauran is a physician assistant who has worked for Advanced Urgent Care since 2008. Matt received his Associate of Science from the College of Southern Nevada in 1999. He then received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in chemistry, from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Matt graduated from Touro University in 2007 with his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies, and continues as adjunct faculty for their program. Matt’s work experience extends from his days as a dialysis technician to a laboratory technician for the Center for Urban Water Conservation. Matt has also worked as a wildlife biologist for Southern Nevada Environmental, Inc., and as a combat medic in the Army National Guard. Matt is a member of the Nevada Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Matt provides full-time urgent care support, and also serves as a back-up to our personal injury primary care clinics. |
